Fun TBR Prompts for 2025

It's that time of the year! The books you've accumulated over the holidays shine brightly, and your reading goal is set. Now it's time to find out where to begin. If you're anything like me, indecision runs rampant through your mind. Everything seems too good or not intriguing enough. Picking a prompt from my TBR jar eliminates the stress of making a choice. Here are five exciting prompts to add to your jar that will make your 2025 reading journey the best yet!

Predicted 5-Star Read

What better way to begin your 2025 reading journey than with a book that excites you?! Choose a book based on reviews or your gut feeling after reading the synopsis that you believe will be at the top of your list of favorites. Fingers crossed that it does not let you down!

Diversification

Jump into new worlds with stories that have characters or are by authors of marginalized communities. Immersing ourselves in the lives of the characters on the pages before us allows us to make connections, empathize with, and respect the experiences of those whose lives differ from our own. Check out this Goodreads list for some ideas!

Adapted For The Screen

Is the book or the movie better? Find out for yourself! Look for a book or series that has been adapted into a film or TV series. One of the nicest aspects of reading is watching the story unfold in our minds with each page. I thoroughly enjoyed comparing my rendition to the one created on screen. What is your favorite adapted novel? Let me know in the comments!

Classics

Maturing is realizing that you probably shouldn’t have avoided those required readings in school.

Poe, Shelley, Woolf, Austen, Tolstoy… the list goes on and on. As the weather turns cold, sit back with a classic and a nice cup of tea or hot chocolate.

To Unhaul or Not To Unhaul

We all have one (or a few)! The book that we bought with the full intention of reading it, but it now lies on the shelf, collecting dust while we pile on glittering, new prospects. Pick up the book that has been on your shelf the longest and finally dive in! You may be surprised by what you find!

If you have any more fun TBR prompts, share them in the comments. Happy reading!

The Very Best of Care: An Interview with Author Julie Hatch

Author Julie Hatch drew inspiration from her decades of experience as a medical professional to write her debut novel, The Very Best of Care . The jaw-dropping thriller plunges readers into the nerve-wracking world of neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). The story follows one young mother's fight against corrupt physicians and the exploitation of Big Pharma, all while attempting to save her premature newborn son's life. Unapologetic in its look inside the hell that many families face inside the walls of the hospital, Hatch delivers a gripping and emotionally driven narrative that will have you on the edge of your seat. A Good Book To End The Day had the pleasure of interviewing the author ahead of her novel's June 3rd release. Check it out below: Tell us a little about yourself and your journey toward becoming an author. I am a healthcare professional—a retired nurse practitioner and a current acupuncturist. My years of working in neonatal and pediatric intensive care a...

The Horseman's Tale: Review

"We do not see things as they are; we see them as we are." "A Horseman's Tale" follows Jake Montgomery, a combat-wounded Vietnam veteran who is using Written Exposure Therapy in an attempt to cope with his PTSD. We follow Jake as he shares his life's triumphs and tragedies. Haunted by the loss of loved ones, his time on the battlefield, and his tumultuous early years, Jake seeks solace in the best parts of his life. His family, his friends, and, of course, his horses.  Author Tom Equels delivers an intensely intimate look at how our choices impact not only ourselves but also the world around us. Powerful and complex, the novel explores profound subjects such as civil rights, grief, the effects of war, and the AIDS crisis. "A Horseman's Tale" is a worthy read, full of humanity, sorrow, and beauty.  Check Out A Horseman's Tale: Amazon Goodreads Follow Tom Equels: Website Instagram Thank you to Farrow Communications and Tom Equels for provid...

Author Interview: Mary Kathleen Mehuron

In the summer of 1972, eighteen-year-old Maeve O’Connor is desperate to escape her conservative family and pursue her dream of studying photography. Her chance comes in the form of a photo contest. She finds the needed compelling subjects in a fading seaside town where strippers, sideshow performers, and artists live openly on the boardwalk. There, Maeve falls for Georgie, an androgynous musician chasing stardom, and builds friendships with a group of misfit creatives. But as Maeve immerses herself in a world where she finally feels at home, she must face the question: how much is she willing to risk to claim the life she wants?  I’m so excited to share this interview with Mary Kathleen Mehuron. Down on the South Beach Drag is a book that completely caught me off guard in the best way. I found myself staying up way too late, completely wrapped up in Maeve’s world and her messy, lovable group of friends. Even though Maeve and I come from different walks of life, I saw so much of my...
